Since you are still reading, I see the title did not turn you off... Many Christians strive to be strong for God, and they fail. They go along for awhile okay; then the world, the Devil, and their flesh drag them down. It is true that God wants strong Christians, but I dare say that most Christians are going about it the wrong way.
Have you noticed that our current generation (especially of Americans) has no concept of control. We are out-of-control. The drastic rise in credit card induced bankruptcies, divorce attorneys, and mini-riots are skyrocketing. Road rage, impulse spending, and all sorts of addictions are seen as ‘normal’ in our society… even in the church! We have totally lost the concept of temperance: the moderation of passions and appetites (Galatians 5:22-23).
Two hundred years after Christ, China's Han Dynasty began its ruthless conquest of neighboring territories. During a particular battle, an enemy soldier, knowing he was defeated, stripped off part of his shirt and waved it in the air. When surrendering, a centurion would drop his sword and raised his shield above his head - an act of surrender.
