Patriotism Pt.2 – My Responsibility as a Citizen

Christians are not exempt from being good citizens. The Bible commands us to obey those who God has placed in authority over us. We are not to play God, but are to act godly. As a citizen you and I have been entrusted with protecting the freedom that we enjoy in America.

Patriotism Pt.1 – My Responsibility as a Christian

As the Presidential Election approaches, I hear and read a lot of things that are filled with hatred and spite. One of the tenants of America is the freedom of speech. This is a great thing but can also be abused. Something that disturbs me the most is the hatred coming from people who claim to be Christians. I am a Christian and I believe in taking a stand, but not one that harms the name of Christ.

Patriotic Quotations & Scriptures

The Church must take right ground in regard to politics. The time has come that Christians must vote for honest men and take consistent ground in politics. Christians have been exceedingly guilty in this matter. But the time has come when they must act differently. God cannot sustain this free and blessed country which we love and pray for unless the Church will take right ground. Guiding Principles for Christian Voters

Democrats and Republicans alike have gone hog-wild with big government. Americans really do need less - fewer taxes, fewer laws, fewer government agencies. Less is more. It will hurt us in the long run to have universal health care. We need to open the social security system up to private investing. (Think about it: Can I do any worse than what the government does managing my money?) Don’t buy into the rhetoric that we need another law or more funding. If you agree, just remember that less federal- and state-government will require more self-government of neighborhoods & communities.

I don’t really like either of the candidates. I don’t know if they mean what they say. I don’t know who to trust. I don’t know if my vote will really count anyway. Ever feel this way? If so, I trust the next few paragraphs will help you during days ahead....
