Herein is true faith. We must trust that God will continue to do what He has promised even when we are unable to be aware of it. We must realize that we might not always remember the One who will never forget. God has promised to keep on remembering us.
Regrets. Failure accumulates as the years roll by and what grows with it? Regrets. You know, those things no one knows. Or even worse, those things that someone well knows. Those things for which we grab the eraser only to find you didn’t write it with pencil but the strongest ink. How are you and I to deal with regrets?
This is the "2nd Law" (actually just a repeat of the first.) The new generation needed it reviewed to them b/c they were about to face some new enemies and new struggles. The Lord knows we are forgetful - this book is full of reminders... don't forget God, His promises, your salvation, etc.
After 400 years of cruel bondage and enslavement, the Jews are walking out with God's mighty hand on them, just as promised (Exodus 13). What could have been a short 10-day trip from Egypt to Canaan would take about a year - because God had quite a bit to teach His people. It was much easier to get Israel out of Egypt than to get Egypt out of Israel. This is a beautiful picture of the Christian's journey of faith...
