I am deeply burdened about the future of my children and grandchildren. The world they will inherit is completely different from the world in which I grew up. Because of selfishness and a complete lack of character from earlier generations, we are handing over a broken nation. It is broken financially, emotionally, philosophically, physically, but most of all spiritually.
As the Presidential Election approaches, I hear and read a lot of things that are filled with hatred and spite. One of the tenants of America is the freedom of speech. This is a great thing but can also be abused. Something that disturbs me the most is the hatred coming from people who claim to be Christians. I am a Christian and I believe in taking a stand, but not one that harms the name of Christ.
Although the word “Arminianism” is never found in Scripture, Jacob Arminius found the basis of his teachings in the Bible. Arminianism was formulated/popularized by the Remonstrance (1610). Faiths leaning at least in part in the Arminian direction include Methodists, Free Will Baptists, General Baptists, Church of the Nazarene, The Salvation Army, and Charismatics.
Don't call me a Calvinist or an Arminian... because both are exaggerated, eccentric, excessive, man-made-misinterpretations of God's grace and man's sin. There is a balanced view, one in the middle... I wish to be labeled by my faith as a Christian, by my authority as a Biblicist, and by my creed/practices as a Baptist.
This November marks only the 8th time I’ve had the important opportunity to offer my vote for who should hold the office of President, but I’m already feeling a range of emotions... I don’t really like either of the candidates. I don’t know if they mean what they say. I don’t know who to trust. I don’t know if my vote will really count anyway. Ever feel this way? If so, I trust the next few paragraphs will help you during days ahead....
